John M. Ryan is counsel in the Washington, D.C. office of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP. He regularly represents and counsels corporate and governmental clients on matters related to U.S. international trade remedy laws and international arbitration. His experience includes: •Representing clients in antidumping, countervailing duty and safeguard litigation before the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. International Trade Commission, the U.S. Trade Representative, U.S. appellate courts, and NAFTA panels •Developing strategic trade remedies plans for multinational corporations •Representing foreign governments in international arbitrations •Representing multinational corporations and foreign governments regarding dispute settlement under WTO Agreements, NAFTA, U.S. bilateral investment treaties, and other international agreements •Advising multinational corporations and foreign governments regarding WTO consistency of U.S. antidumping and countervailing duty laws and measures •Advising multinational corporations on WTO agriculture, rules and government procurement negotiations •Advising and representing clients before Congress and executive branch agencies in the formulation of U.S. trade policy John has extensive experience with a wide variety of industries, including steel and other metals, chemicals, agricultural commodities, processed foods, lumber, furniture, grand pianos, motor vehicles and parts, large machinery, and semiconductors
