I have 18 years of sea-going experience. I joined Malaysian International Shipping Corporation in 1981 as its pioneer 1st batch Liquefied Natural Gas cadet (comprising 9 Malaysian navigating cadets) who was sent to study at Singapore Polytechnic (SP) and serve on its French built LNG Gas carriers. Upon passing out from SP I then opted to venture out and increase my experience working onboard other non-specialised vessels namely container, bulk carriers, petroleum tankers, parcel tankers and was promoted to Chief Officer on MISC's latest venture into chemical tanker trade. I was promoted to Master in 1992 and served onboard chemical tankers of IMO Type II/III and crude oil tankers. Upon quiting the sea, I joined MISC as its 1st Training Consultant conducting tanker familiarisation & safety courses onboard its oil & gas tankers. Thereafter I acquired 23 years serving as DP, Manager HSSEQ, Operations and commercial with various ship owning/management companies in the marine and marine-offshore industry including an oil terminal company managing 2 x 167,000 dwt Suezmax floating storage units and lastly joined Malaysian Maritime Academy as projects researcher and then as lecturer for mates and master. Currently I have set-up a marine consultant company whilst working as adjunct lecturer.
