Climate Proofing, Growth & Development (CPGD) is a DFID-funded regional programme based in New Delhi. The programme is operating in six Indian States, and in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan.

CrossRoads is a joint-DFID & EU-funded Programme providing technical and governance support to the Ugandan road industry.

After leaving Nigeria in December 2011, I spent a year based in the UK undertaking short-term consultancy assignments in Africa and Asia.

Nigeria

As Programme Manager responsible for all aspects of national level management including:• One federal and eight state offices with over 70 long-term staff, including 8 international and 23 senior national staff.• A programme development group comprising of 7 short-term technical experts.• Development of a coherent framework of technical guidance and oversight of the development of state-specific work-plans to enhance capacity and improve governance, progress reporting and oversight of financial management.• Coordination of technical assistance consultancy inputs from a pool of over 100 short-term consultants in key technical disciplines, and direct management of national-level inputs in core thematic areas – policy & strategy, monitoring & evaluation, public financial management, public sector management, political economy, local government and knowledge management.• Coordination of activities with DFID Country and Regional Offices, other donor offices including the World Bank, European Union, UNDP & USAID and national programmes.Remained in post as Programme Manager for the Mid-Term Review in November 2011, at which time the Programme was scored as A+ (2 in the earlier system), after which stepped down in December 2012 after a period of almost 6 years in Nigeria. Funded by the British Council.In addition, joint-supervision of post-graduate research into the relationship between water contamination and health amongst the fishing communities in Songkhla.
