Responsible for overall technical and operational function of the forensic laboratory serving the city and county of San Francisco. Supervising 6 Unit Supervisors and 22 Analytical Scientists. Maintaining operational budget of 4 million dollars as well as overseeing numerous grants totaling greater than $400K. Working in conjunction with both police investigations as well as the district attorney's office and federal prosecutors to ensure that the services needed are available. Also working with these agencies to improve communication by coordinating and actively participating in on going strategy meetings as well as providing training. Actively engaged in the planning and design of a new $300 million dollar laboratory facility. Additional duties include serving as the laboratory quality assurance manager in order to prepare for ISO 17025 accreditation.
Supervised 8 criminalists conducting evidence analysis. Manage case loads and assignments, prioritize requests for analysis, prepare/apply for grants, conduct casework, review policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accepted standards, train new analysts, provide testimony in court

Upon completing a formalized and accredited training program in forensic firearms and tool marks training, performed bench level analysis, authored summary reports on analytical findings and testified in court as to those findings. Participated in training law students, investigators and other customers on the use and application of forensic disciplines with respect to their areas of involvement.
