Prof. John Sandham DProf, CEng, FIHEEM, FIWBL, MIET - is a British Chartered Engineer, and Business Entrepreneur. He started his career in the Royal Air Force, training first as a ground equipment technician, stationed in the UK, Central America, and Ascension Island. He then did a conversion course to become a clinical engineer, and was stationed at the Princess of Wales RAF hospital in Ely, Cambs; and the RAF War Hospital Muharraq, Bahrain. He went on to become a business entrepeneur, setting up and growing a number of clinical engineering and property related businesses.He is an internationally recognised and respected ‘Chartered Engineer’ (CEng), and has over 35 years of experience, with the last 25 years in senior executive roles such as Chairman, Managing Director, Chief Executive, Executive Advisor, and Board Trustee.John is professionally registered through the UK Engineering Council, is a ‘Fellow of the Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management’ (FIHEEM); a ‘Fellow of the Institute of Work Based Learning’ (FIWBL); and a ‘Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology’ (MIET). John is also well known academically, with over 300 published articles, and a ‘Doctorate in Professional Studies’ (DProf) for Compliance in Medical Devices Management Policy. He is a ‘Visiting Senior Research Fellow’ at Middlesex University; and 'Honorary Professor' at the University of Warwick; He supervises MSc and MEng student projects, and does guest lectures on healthcare technology management, policy development, and organisational learning internationally.
