Of Lost Time is a literary unit producing popular history books of historical letters on a broad range of themes. I am responsible for managing the production of the book from inception to final publication. Responsibilities include:• Conceiving ideas for potential titles and writing book proposals• Conducting primary and secondary research to find historically significant letters to be included in the books • Sourcing and recruiting expert narrators for the books • Providing editorial feedback to narrators on their contributions• Writing the copy for the books including all font and back matter, as well as short introductions for each of the letters• Copy editing, fact checking, and proofreading the books before manuscript submission to the publisher • Working with the publisher over multiple rounds of editorial feedback to make the book ready for publication

This was a freelance position, within which I assisted the brewery in its research into the local history of Kent to find inspiration for new names for their beers and ales. I also conducted a research project into the place-names of the surrounding area which is now displayed at the Brewery for visitors.

I gave fun and engaging tours of Oxford Castle & Prison. This role has broadened a variety of my skills including public speaking, managing large groups, working under pressure and working with children. It has also given me a valuable insight in to business and marketing within the heritage sector.

This role involved traveling the UK to various universities advertising RateMyPlacement. The job required me to be very outgoing and confident, whilst also interacting with a huge number of people. Duties of this role included recruiting students via email and phone to assist me at fairs along with maintaining a presence on social media. When not at fairs I assisted with the day to day admin of the office.
