Dr. Scaffidi received his Bachelor's in Science degree from Lehigh Valley's prestigious Muhlenberg College with honors in both biology and psychology, and was awarded a coveted membership into Psi Chi, the national Psychology Honor Society in 1983. This was followed by a Master’s program in Applied Human Physiology while he participated in research with both the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Medical school followed at University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ at their leading medical center, Cooper Hospital University Medical Center, where he obtained his medical degree, again with honors. Internship and residency followed at the nationally recognized St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ, where he culminated his training by serving as chief resident. During this time he participated in research and published several papers on various topics concerning obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive medicine as well as serving as both the state and national district III representative for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Since then he has been in private practice committed to training other professionals by teaching residents, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. He has also extensively lectured on multiple topics in the fields of obstetrics, gynecology and bariatrics to physicians, nurses, and the general public, while furthering his own education on a constant basis with the sole purpose of improving others lives. He maintains board certification in both Gynecology as well as Medical Bariatrics.
