Provides leadership in the advancement of arts on campus and in the community. Serves as the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs (SVPAA) designee in providing guidance to the leaders of the four professional arts affiliates on campus (Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Pioneer Theatre, UtahPresents, Tanner Dance). Oversees decisions related to use of arts fee funds and acts as the SVPAA’s representative in ensuring sound fiscal management in the professional arts affiliates.

Responsible for leading a collective vision for and managing the academic, operational, physical, fiscal, and human resources of the College of Fine Arts; advancing the quality of undergraduate and graduate instruction, supporting and sustaining faculty research activities, and promoting the continued development of the College; cultivating strategic partnerships with University administrators, college faculty and staff, and with local community members and arts organizations in order to execute the educational objectives of both the College and University; leading alumni relations and fundraising initiatives. Established in 1948, the U of U College of Fine Arts is home to five academic units: Art & Art History, Dance, Film & Media Arts, Music, and Theatre. The CFA enrolls approximately 2000 students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and offers 20 degrees and several emphases including BA, BFA, BMus, MA, MFA, MMus, DMA, & PhD. The College is situated in and benefits from a vibrant metropolitan and regional arts scene that is nationally renowned. The CFA is deeply engaged with the local arts community both on campus and with our professional affiliates: UtahPresents, the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, the Pioneer Theatre Company, and in the broader community through faculty, staff, student, and alumni ties with local arts organizations such as Utah Symphony, Utah Opera, Ballet West, Ririe Woodbury Dance Company, Salt Lake Acting Company, Sundance Film Festival, Salt Lake Film Society, Repertory Dance Company, Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, and others.

Responsible for all course scheduling and room assignments; grade reporting; faculty and departmental travel; faculty loads; all external publicity, including website, calendar, and biweekly concert/recital/event notifications to subscribers; School of Music physical plant and equipment; guiding relationships with alumni and other external constituents; coordinating student recruiting programs and visits; placement of performers/ensembles on and off campus; supervision of three full-time administrative staff members.
