Kinsa is a venture backed high-tech hardware and software startup building the world’s first outbreak detection system for contagious disease. At Kinsa I have been the technical leader of our software engineering efforts as we’ve developed world class software products, in addition to being the people leader of our engineering department. Furthermore, while at Kinsa I have served as the principal architect of Kinsa’s current iteration of cloud infrastructure and robust data ingestion pipeline. Based on my systems engineering and architecture, Kinsa infrastructure has scaled to support millions of users and handle surge usage of Kinsa’s consumer product during the COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining 99.999% uptime.Additionally, I serve as Kinsa’s Security Officer overseeing our security program and compliance efforts. In 2021 and subsequent years, I led Kinsa through successful SOC2 Type 2 audits, certifying the confidentiality, integrity and availability of our systems.

At SurveyMonkey/Monentive.ai, I was the architect and technical lead spearheading an engineering team which built the API layer underpinning the SurveyMonkey Rewards mobile application. Furthermore, I orchestrated an intricate re-architecture effort, spanning multiple teams, to enhance the maintainability, performance and scalability of the SurveyMonkey Audience suite of applications.

Remedy Labs was a venture-backed, high-tech software startup company building error detection for medical billing. During my tenure as CTO, Security Officer and cofounder of Remedy, I had the privilege of leading a talented and resourceful engineering team. At Remedy, I steered the strategic direction of our software and orchestrated its architectural design. My individual contributions focused on designing machine learning algorithms that effectively identified errors and identified opportunities for cost savings in medical bills. In addition, I managed our cloud servers ensuring the robust security, integrity and compliance of our infrastructure in compliance with HIPAA, and led the company’s culture of dedication to safeguarding sensitive healthcare data.

Fanbase was a venture-backed, high-tech startup company and media aggregation product. At Fanbase, I designed a breakout detection system that analyzed social media and news outlets to construct histories of professional athletes and identify, in real time, the pivotal moments in their careers. To achieve this, I designed a novel approach to score the internal similarity of groups of related text in real time utilizing minimal computational resources and I orchestrated the development of a bespoke distributed task system, effectively sharing workload across a cluster of numerous servers. This system monitored, ingested and analyzed tens of thousands of social media accounts and RSS feeds, in real time, identifying athletes by name and contextual relevance.

As Enterprise Architect at TechShed/The Home Depot, my role encompassed serving as the primary technical lead, responsible for overseeing and architecting engineering projects that bridged between the teams at TechShed and The Home Depot, despite their distinct codebases and disparate systems. A noteworthy example is the development of The Home Depot Pro mobile app.Additionally, I played a significant role in ensuring the security and integrity of our systems by architecting an PCI compliant payment integration, safeguarding customer information during transactions. Furthermore, I facilitated a seamless integration with Home Depot's in-store services, creating a cohesive and unified experience for customers across various touchpoints.

Techshed was a software research and development arm of The Home Depot and the post-acquisition role of the Redbeacon team within The Home Depot. As Senior Software engineer at Techshed, I was the tech lead for a team of engineers collaborating with designers, product managers to rapidly develop multiple prototypes to pilot business models for the integration of Redbeacon into The Home Depot. Many of those prototypes went on to become mainstays of The Home Depot shopping experience - for example, pro referral, automated in-store pick up lockers, and in-car pickup. Technologies I used at Redbeacon included Python, Django, MySQL, Celery, Selenium, Git, and Twilio.

Redbeacon was a venture-backed high tech startup which built an online software product that matched consumer users with home service professionals. As Software Engineer at Redbeacon, I had the privilege of architecting and developing a range of impactful projects. Notably, I co-authored a pioneering home services price estimation machine learning algorithm, which received recognition through a US Patent (US20140279167A1). The development and productionization of this algorithm led to the successful acquisition of Redbeacon by The Home Depot.
