John's responsibilities span the full spectrum of strategy, planning, and operations to aid Dell's businesses in the management of security and resiliency risk across the physical and cyber domains. He is also charged with leading Dell's global crisis management, business continuity, and product security programs, and regularly advises Dell's customers on security risk. Prior to Dell, Mr. Scimone served as the Global Chief Information Security Officer for Sony Group, where he supported building Sony's first global information security and privacy program. While at Sony, John played a leading role in the company’s response to the infamous North Korean cyber attack.Earlier, Mr. Scimone held a number of leadership positions at the U.S. Department of Defense, including Director of Security Operations for the Secretary of Defense's communications office and as a Senior Security Advisor with the Joint Task Force for Global Network Operations (now U.S. Cyber Command). While at the DoD, John led the response to multiple critical cyber incidents.Mr. Scimone holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he specialized in information security. He also earned a M.A. degree in Strategic Intelligence Studies from the Institute of World Politics and has completed numerous post-graduate executive studies.
