In addition to John’s strategy work for Pelican and role on the Pelican Board, John serves as a Member of the Executive Committee, Strategy at Innventure LLC. Prior to co-founding Innventure, John served as Founder and CEO of XL TechGroup (XLTG) and XLVision where he developed the DownSelect® Method that Innventure uses today to vet, de-risk, and commercialize disruptive technologies from top Multi-National Companies (e.g., P&G, Nokia, Etc.) and their associated business opportunities.During John’s leadership, XLVision and XL Tech founded and managed 10 companies, of which 9 were successful as an M&A or an IPO. Of these, there were 6 IPOs in NY and London, each of which John managed. Activities in these companies included the development and construction of over 750 on-farm biodigesters which used animal waste to produce electricity and reduce methane emissions.John also served as an academic scientist at numerous universities and government labs including the Universities of Maryland, North Carolina and Arizona, as well as the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, and the Max Plank Institutes in Germany. He also became a technology consultant for 6 additional national governments.He earned his Ph.D. in Physics and Astrophysics from the University of Arizona and has published over 60 academic papers.
