About John Shepherd
John Shepherd, Ph.D. is a Researcher (Professor) at the University of Hawaii (Manoa) with a primary appointment in the Cancer Center. He is a BIRCWH Fellow (NIH K-12), a 2013 Fulbright Scholar, a Fellow of the AIMBE and the AAPM. He is most known for his expertise in quantitative X-ray imaging using machine learning for bone densitometry, body composition, and mammography applications. His current research is in the use of artificial intelligence and deep learning to extract more cancer risk information from various forms of medical imaging including dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, digital mammography, tomosynthesis, MRI, and 3D optical images. John was the 2016 President of the ISCD.
