• Review engineering drawings to determine the manufacturing process.• Identify sub-contract work from design drawings and procure quotes for the work that cannot be performed in house.• Identify additional tooling is requirements and procure quotes for tooling.• Raise purchase orders for sub-contract work and tooling on approval.• Create and update SOP’s to support and aid production.• Implement projects to reduce manufacturing cost, reduce times and increase safety in a timely manner & within budget.• Record errors for lessons learnt project meeting.• Provide engineering support for production to reduce line stoppages.• Produce and update machine floor plans suitable for the process flow of the product.

In November 2007, I qualified as a skilled aircraft fitter and worked on various jobs on A330 long range stage 01 (jigs). Tasks that I carried out on a daily basis are as follows:-• Drilling• Reaming• Countersinking• Forward & backward spotfacing• Cold working• Marking out• Fettling• Locating jigs & templates• Back drillingOther tasks that I carried out on a regular basis are:-• Panel location• Rib installation and setting• Sealing• Panel removal• Rework• Hole pulling• BoltingI hold an in-jig crane license, signed off for the use of a harness, trained to use a TSS (through skin sensor) machine. I have been part of a team that have re-drilled new panels & buttstraps that have been scrapped & helped drill the extended life gear rib project for the A330.All these skills that i have aquired from my apprenticeship & 5 years of production have made me a well rounds & highly skilled aircraft fitter.

During my apprenticeship, I gathered many skills and knowledge for my career in the aerospace industry. The skills i acquired throughout my apprenticeship helped me to complete my NVQ level 3 in aeronautical engineering.I worked on A320 ASPA (panel assembly) where i gained skills in drilling, cold working, sealing & bolting. I worked on A340-600 & A330 jigs (wing assembly) where i expanded my skills and knowledge in drilling, sealing, sawing, filing, fettling, skin treatment, painting & bolting. I worked on A320 flowline & Hawker equipping where i gained additional skills in wirelocking, split pinning and electrical bonding.
