Using knowledge of safety procedures, ammunition, or reported danger conditions (hazard duty areas, high fire danger conditions) grants or denies permission for units or maintenance personnel to go downrange or leave the range. Determines when to order check fire on ranges, and mortar firing points. Based on daily flight restrictions, advises aircraft operating in the restricted airspace of any firing or training hazardous to flight. Enforces airspace restrictions and limitations by providing advisories to pilots requesting to transit the restricted airspace as to route to follow and status of live-fire ranges. Disseminates such safety information as severe weather watches or warnings, heat categories, fire danger classes, aircraft over flights, and other factors. Maintains contact with emergency medical personnel, including MEDEVAC units and EMS for directing medical evacuation of injured personnel.
