In my own architectural practice in Herefordshire I was involved in the study and repair of a number of listed timber framed buildings. In practices in the same area and in Oxfordshire I specialised in church repair and re-orderingA mid-Career MA course in Building Conservation at the University of York was a richly rewarding experience, with in-depth learning about traditional materials and hands on practical work in the various building craft skills. This opened the door to working with English Heritage in the north, being engaged in a whole range of projects from minor repairs to monuments to the repair and presentation of Fountains Abbey water mill.I am curently with Donald Insall Associates, the country's leading conservatin practice working on projects in the UK and abroad, and with a particular specialisation in researching and writing Conservation Management Plans.I remain committed to practical and sustainable solutions. I believe in engaging fully with clients, tenants, building users and communities so that they understand the conservation process and are committed to working towards the best solutions. I believe Conservation should be an enjoyable process leading to delightful buildings and places.
