Duty Sports EditorPress Association Aug 2008 - Oct 2018YorkshireI often held the reins on the Press Association sports desk and handled the breaking of major sports news stories.This involved setting and influencing the daily PA sport news agenda on a frequent basis, and specialist out-of-office reporting (World Snooker Championship 2009-18, UK Snooker Championship 2011-18, Wimbledon 2009-18, Olympic Games x 2, Commonwealth Games x 2, Women's Euro 2017).I pushed women's football and women's sport hard, particularly from 2013 onwards, establishing a great relationship with the FA and the England Women football set-up.This led to some great stories, including early interviews with the likes of Lucy Bronze, Jodie Taylor and Fran Kirby, and a UK-first exclusive with under-pressure manager Mark Sampson after the Aluko/Spence allegations.Liaising with the sports editor, I produced plans for PA to boost coverage of women's sport, which led to a significantly improved level of content being delivered.This was truly a dream job, but after almost two decades at PA I decided the time had come to chase new experiences. -
