I am currently a Staff Scientist with the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), serving as a chemistry resource for the Division of Translational Toxicology (DTT) and assisting in managing contracts that DTT maintains with chemistry labs across the country. I recently completed a postdoctoral research appointment at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) where we used high resolution mass spectrometry for non-targeted analysis (NTA) studies. Applications included identifying unknown chemicals in rapid response situations and the discovery of novel organic contaminants in drinking water. I received my Ph.D. from Wake Forest University in Feb. 2021, where I studied analytical chemistry and specialized in atomic spectrometry. My research during my Ph.D. included the applications of data acquired via atomic spectrometry paired with multivariate statistical analysis, furthering the theory and applications of non-traditional calibration techniques, specifically standard dilution analysis, and using trace metal profiles of biological samples to better understand cancer treatment and age-related health outcomes.
