I was working as the Projects and Technical Support (PTS) Project Controls Manager in Abu Dhabi. My primary area of responsibility was the review of the cost and schedule aspect of the projects executed by Borealis over 10mm Euro worldwide. Additionally there were 15 to 20 Project Management and Project Support People reporting to me. The group worked on a variety of projects (Both Capital and Maintenance) in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Brazil. Key focuses of my attention in was supporting the project control processes for the: Borouge 3 Project in Abu Dhabi. Stage Gate Reviews for projects in Europe / Middle East, Asia and Brazil.Estimate and Planning Reviews for Projects in Europe / Middle East, Asia and Brazil.Development and Updating of Project Execution Processes and Procedures.The management of the Project Controls Resource Pool in PTS.Interfacing and Supporting the Engineering and Maintenance Project Group in Europe.

Support project cost reviews with Senior BP management in Sunbury.Providing cost analysis for the selection of project execution options.Perform contractor estimate reviews on behalf of the project. Clearly identifying any gaps in the estimates. Ensure consistency across multiple contractor estimates (SPA).Compare estimates to internal and external metrics and benchmarks, including Company databases. Provide in depth analysis and challenge to cost input from others.Support the preparation of FMs, Form 11s and AFE’s.Develop project – specific life cycle cost effects and CAPEX / OPEX trade off. Review project change order estimates. Support the cost control group. To insure consistent manpower cover.Assist in the development and management of man-hour accountsDeveloping ad hock estimates for other GUPCO work, Benchmarking estimate performance and trending the data into the upcoming projects.

Project Controls Team Lead as well the hands on lead Planner / Estimator. Working on Capital and Maintenance projects in Marsa EL Brega, Libya. The facilities included two Urea Plants, two Ammonia Plants, two Methanol Plants, a Gas Plant, a Refinery, two Tank Farms, two Desalination plants, two Power Generation Plants, associated Utility Systems and Product Loading Facilities. My work included the development of project estimates and schedules from the conceptual stage to execution. Additionally I engaged in bench marking activities, and the reporting of progress to upper management. Further duties involved turnaround planning in these facilities. This encompassed the responsibility for the tracking of these projects including the optimization of the plan and offering timely solutions to keep the work on track.

In order to comply with the guidelines set down by the Canadian Tax Service, I had to maintain a client base for my business. My main employer (ESSO) was happy to allow time to work different contracts to facilitate wider experience and used my successes with other companies as lessons learned. As a contractor I have been requested to fill a variety of positions. I generally worked as a project control specialist in a senior position with focus on Estimating and Planning / Scheduling. Additional responsibilities have included:Turnaround Planner, 73 turnarounds, successfully planned to date. Additionally I have developed for MS project and Scheduler, turnaround systems (using templates) to streamline the Turnaround planning process.Cost Controller and Contracts Administrator.High end use of P.C. based project / business software (Primavera, MS Project, Open Plan, Scheduler, Time Line, CASP, Estimatic, Quick Pen, Timber Line, Artemis, Icarus, Exxon’s I.T. etc.).The Development of Maintenance Procedures and Project Control Systems.Used as a discipline lead or the leader of a group, in the past been utilized as a Project Engineer.
