A construction professional with more than 40 years’ experience, I am currently involved in the strategic direction of a number of construction-related businesses. These include roles as chairman of project management consultancy FT2, non-executive director for US multi-site construction solutions specialist, Sevan, and non-executive director for The Future Bureau, the company behind the Vistadais luxury off-grid accommodation concept.I was CEO and Group Chairman of Bovis for 12 years, which involved responsibility for the UK and CEMEA, along with significant experience in the US and working with the Bovis businesses in China, Singapore and Australia. Prior to my role as CEO and Chairman, I ran the central Europe, Middle East and Africa division of Bovis, where I was responsible for projects in Spain, France, Italy, Poland, Russia, UAE and South Africa, along with many of the company’s PPP projects in Europe. A board director since 1980, I had previously been responsible for running one of Bovis’ operating divisions within the UK and during the course of my 40-year career with the company I was instrumental in delivering a wide array of high profile projects.I have also held a number of senior and strategic roles for a variety of construction bodies and companies. I am a former chairman of the Major Contractors’ Group in the UK and the Strategic Forum for Health & Safety. I have also been a Councillor for the London Region for the Confederation of British Industry. A non-executive director on the Health and Safety Executive Board in the UK for six years, I have also been a non-executive director of BC&E; one of the major providers of financial services to the construction industry and was a non-executive director at Aecom from 2011-2018.My other previous roles as a consultant include sitting on the Strategy Board for the Considerate Constructors Scheme for five years in the UK and involvement with the Workplace Safety and Health Council in Singapore as an international consultant.
