Working as a physiotherapist, I have gained experience treating a wide range of musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries. I have taken a particular interest in treating spinal and shoulder injuries as well as patients whose injuries are caused by poor postures at work. My passion in the area of occupational rehabilitation has been driven by the knowledge that these injuries could have been prevented through injury prevention strategies in the workplace. I am constantly striving to expand my knowledge in this area of rehabilitation to further my understanding of why these injuries happen and assist patients in reducing their risk of experiencing these injuries in the workplace. I understand the importance of continuing to further my knowledge, therefore I am eagerly participating in continuing education programs to ensure I am offering the greatest service to my patients. In my current employment at Axis Rehabilitation I have been given the opportunity to work directly with corporate companies. This experience includes performing ergonomic and workplace assessments in a variety of settings, developing return to work programs and performing risk assessments to ensure all employees are working in a safe environment. Through the performance of these measures, we have provided the employees with a safer work environment and reduced the amount of time injured employees have stayed away from the workplace. These results are greatly satisfying and give me the drive to ensure I am always providing my patients with best evidence based interventions.
