Dr Stekelenburg was appointed to the Board of Barwon Health as Chair in July, 2011. John is a Graduate of Melbourne University and is a practising General Practitioner with 20 years’ experience in the Geelong region. He is the Practice Principal and Manager of a busy Family Medical Practice offering a full range of Primary Care Services. In addition, John also owns and manages a private manufacturing business in the metal finishing industry.John has a strong commitment to the community as evidenced by his service to local organisations, and his chairmanship and committee responsibility with a number of sporting clubs.John is a keen sportsman and his awards include:- Member of the Australian Waterski and Wakeboard Federation Hall of Fame- Multiple World State and National Waterski Champion- Former National Aged Group Triathlon Champion- 2008 Medalist at World 70.3 Ironman Triathlon Championships- 1980 Ballarat Sportsman of the Year- 2010 Awarded Legend Status at St Patrick’s College, BallaratJohn is a member and adviser to the International Waterskiing Medical Committee.
