John oversees PNC model reviews for Stress Testing (DFAST/CCAR, etc.), CECL, Scorecard Models, Macro and Regional Scenarios, Cyber-risk, AML and Fraud model validations. He has more than 30 years of experience in building, leading, using, and reviewing model developments and uses. In recent years and at Promontory he led several model developments and reviews/validations for stress testing and loss allowance across all bank asset classes along with model uses in contingent capital assessments. Prior to joining Promontory, John was a senior business consultant with Experian, where he led projects with several banks on stress-testing models used in the DFAST/CCAR process. He also developed new uses for credit information in portfolio models and forecasts. Previously John was at Freddie Mac in modeling, senior director, and officer leadership positions for 18 years, where he led teams responsible for automated underwriting and all statistical scoring models. In the 1990s he built models and coauthored the first large-data study of credit scoring for mortgages and pioneered Freddie's fair-lending-model testing. He earlier worked as an economist at the Social Security Administration and in macroeconomic forecasting and analysis at the Congressional Budget Office.
