I began my career in science and NMR as an undergraduate lab technician in Prof. Gary Maciel's lab at Colorado State University. It was there that I discovered the wonder of NMR, the need for everything from instrument development to methods development to sample preparation. This is truly a branch of high technology where those interested can explore in almost any direction they choose. After completing my Bachelors degree in Chemistry at CSU, I entered a PhD program at the University of Washington in Seattle. There in Prof. Gary Drobny's lab I expanded my knowledge of Solid State NMR probe design and continued to explore all aspects of NMR After the completion of my PhD program I joined an incredible team at Varian Inc. that included Dr. Jim Frye, Dr. Charles Bronnimann, Dr. Knut Mehr and the many designers, engineers and application specialists working for Varian Inc. There I also first met Chuck Mullen and Mario Incitti, my current coworkers at PhoenixNMR. After 12 years, Agilent Technologies acquired Varian Inc. and the next 4 years was a veritable fire-hose of learning the techniques and processes of a modern manufacturing program. In the final year at Agilent I worked to assist Agilent in closing it's NMR business. Now, after 16 years of work for corporate America I am partnering with an incredible team to form PhoenixNMR where we will provide world class SSNMR hardware to elevate your science.
