Senior Parliamentary Assistant
CurrentResponsible for the setting-up and day-to-day management of the Westminster and constituency offices, including staff welfare and employment matters, budget control, diary and database management and data protection oversight. Recruited and trained a full team of staff, focussing on collaboration and openness whilst giving a clear vision of objectives to be achieved and why, ensuring development and confidence in addition to productivity. Working closely with external organisations on the Member’s behalf, including daily with the TSC and those supporting the work of the APPGE, and with lobby groups or constituents as required. Maintaining an up to date knowledge of current policy matters, bills, legislation, Early Day Motions and debates, specialising in environmental and economic policy and the work of the Treasury Select Committee. Engaging with all levels of government, from ministers and other MPs, House officials and civil servants in national and local government, ensuring positive contact to aid future liaison. Taking an active role in all other aspects of the Member’s work, including resolving constituent concerns, press enquiries and local liaison to ensure the workload remains manageable across the team.
