Work Experience: John joined BeyondTrust in December 2019 as Controller. Shortly after starting, John was promoted to Vice President, Accounting and a few months later, he was promoted to Chief Accounting Officer. He is located in the Phoenix office and has the pleasure of working with a team of amazing professionals. Prior Experience:Before joining BeyondTrust, John worked for PICO Holdings, Inc., a diversified public holding company. He started in June 1998 as Financial Reporting Manager but during the subsequent 21 years, John was promoted to Corporate Controller, Vice President and Corporate Controller, Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer and finally, Chief Financial Officer. John’s corporate responsibilities included oversight of accounting, tax, treasury, human resources, information technology, and internal audit functions. I’m addition, John was lead for integration and development of various portfolio companies; systems designs and maintenance, and regulatory compliance across international and domestic entities. John regularly reported to the company's audit committee and board of directors. John was also involved in a variety of corporate mergers, financings, acquisitions, and divesture transactions, including secondary offerings, and taking a wholly owned real estate subsidiary public. John left PICO on May 3, 2019 in conjunction with a right sizing of the company. Before joining PICO Holdings, John’s career began in public accounting as a CPA with Deloitte and Touch LLP in their San Diego office. During his time there, John worked in the emerging business practice, audited and advised many public companies, and was involved in various public offering transactions including the IPO of Cymer Laser, Inc. John also taught Accounting for the Becker CPA Review, and at San Diego State University. John graduated from San Diego State University with a BS degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, and a 3.9 GPA. Personal:John enjoys spending time with his wife, Shannon who he met at San Diego State University, and his two sons. As a family, they enjoy the beach, cooking, and sports. In his spare time, John enjoys cars, motorcycles, and billiards.
