Chef John Tabone credits his culinary swagger and passion for food from his Italian upbringing where, at a young age, family values and food appreciation were instilled in him. Chef John shares his approachable rustic-cooking style with clients for his private educational program known as Instinctive Cooking.John’s culinary journey began at 18 while working as a dishwasher at Celestino’s fine-dining restaurant under locally renowned chef Guy Zehner. Being fortunate enough to work with skilled artisans at a young age, John was instilled with indispensable values such as a relentless work ethic, attention to detail, and strong social skills— “This industry has a knack for picking its ambassadors,” states Tabone. “The creativity sucks you in. It becomes an obsession,” he adds. John realized that ultimate sacrifice, endless dedication, and staunch devotion were qualities he would need to exhibit if he wanted to excel in the industry.Before taking the Executive Chef position at Glenmaura, John was Executive Chef of Kmedici Restaurant in Plains Twp. He also worked at Grill 23 and Bar in Boston MA. In 2007, Chef John was recognized by the Business Journal’s Top 40 under 40 for Glenmaura National’s financial success.Some of John’s other interests include using his talents and resources to give back to the community. John has spearheaded the Festival of Life event and Chefs vs Hunger. John also takes tremendous pride in mentoring young culinary talent and witnessing them flourish within the local and national food scene.When John is not in the kitchen, he enjoys making memories with his three super-talented children: Simon, Gloria, and James. When John takes off his chef coat, you may catch him drumming, cross-training, or traveling the country in search of new ideas for his next great culinary adventure.
