Since leaving HSBC in December 2011 I have worked for my partner's award-winning eco-bag company Bag It Don't Bin It as International Operations Manager. I have been involved in managing the logistics of importing bags from China, India and Poland, dealing with international payments, customs documentation, freight forwarding and ultimately delivery of the goods to clients, which in many cases requires booking in deliveries to their warehouses or distribution hubs. Within the Sheffield office I have been instrumental in developing and implementing cloud-based order management systems as well as providing IT support and guidance to other members of the company with limited experience of computers.

As International Operations Manager I liaise with our Indian, Chinese and Polish suppliers – I organise the production of goods from overseas suppliers and subsequent transportation to our base in Sheffield. I also manage International Payments. I have been integral in supplying and implementing IT systems for this fast-growing SMEThe company uses an a Accountancy package named Account Edge which runs on MACsThe Sales and Order processing uses a web-based product called Salesforce – this is accessed both on MACs and IBM laptopsI have assisted all members of the management team in understanding and using these systems I have tailored the Salesforce application specifically for the company, for example introducing a customised Job-Control function as well as developing dashboards for the CEOI have tutored members of the team in using Excel to produce meaningful reports as well as updating KPIs

IBM MainframeSystems Analyst: 2000 - 2011 Development Co-ordinator / Programme Manager for several large-scale legacy code replacement projects. This involved directing a team of programmers based in several sites in India and implementing phased releases to Western Europe HSBC IT Platforms. Other areas included processing for multi-currency transactions, receiving and storing bank-wide Adobe PDFs and writing these into DB2 Tables. I was a leader in the team which implemented Faster Payments for HSBC - each of the major UK clearing banks used a common bought package and I was in the team which analysed and tailored this for HSBC such that it would interface with the banks' back-office systems as well as the other UK banks implementing Faster Payments.I worked on a helpdesk for a year which provided 24-hour support for scores of HSBC mainframe systems running in Western Europe – we would initially analyse the problem and liaise with HSBC staff within the UK in order to provide an immediate response.Chief Programmer: 1992 – 2000 Leading developer on HSBC’s in–house Merchant Acquiring Fraud Detection system. Implementation Manager for various large-scale foreign currency reporting suites.using COBOL, SQL as well as FOCUS (which is a specific IBM-based fourth generation language) I became part of a team of 6 which was recognised as HSBC’s UK expert group on FOCUS. Senior Programmer: 1988 – 1992Working on large-scale financial processing within Midlands’ Head Office (Griffin House – Sheffield) – this later was renamed HSBC. I was a developer on Management Information Reporting for ATM-based traffic as well as Velocity checking and forward prediction. This was COBOL and SQL-based. This required specific analysis of ATM usage and liaison with senior management, resulting in the implementation of several reporting suites accessible via a front-end throughout the UK.

I worked in the University Data Processing Unit for five years on Hewlett Packard 3000 Mainframes - I was part of a team who maintained and developed the University's in-house payroll , staff and student record systems, as well as the designer and implementor of a proprietary estates management system, which was later sold on to other red-brick universities.

Junior Programmer: developing COBOL skills using Hewlett-Packard computers – this was a Software House developing bespoke packages for external clients.
