I am a journalist with 23 years of experience working in conflict areas in Sudan and South Sudan. Currently, I am the Managing Editor and Host of Voice of America's “South Sudan In Focus,” a 30-minute weekday English-language broadcast/internet program covering rapidly changing developments in Africa’s newest nation. Before joining VOA, I worked in Nairobi, Kenya where he established the first independent radio station (Sudan Radio Service) for the people of Sudan. I have covered several civil wars in Sudan and South Sudan and have been engaged in the production of civic education materials for creating awareness about post conflict issues facing Sudanese and South Sudanese. I have interviewed South Sudan President Salva Kiir, former Vice President Riek Machar, Vice President Wani Igga, leader of Sudan’s Umma Party Sadiq Al Mahdi, Sudanese rebel leaders, heads of UN Mission in South Sudan, Senior USAID Officials, U.S Special Envoys for Sudan and South Sudan and the U.S Assistant Secretary for African Affairs, Linda Thomas- Greenfield.
