I got my first computer around 1986. I learned a bit of BASIC, played a lot of "Zork", even became president of the school computer club. I spent nearly a decade using Linux exclusively, starting with Ubuntu and working my way up to Slackware and Linux From Scratch. I have built and upgraded my own computers, including the HTPC our household currently revolves around. Aside from that PC, I also have a Windows 11 laptop and a second desktop I plan to run Linux on once I get an office set up.I'm familiar with BASH and use Powershell 7 regularly. Over the years, I've dabbled in everything from Python to Haskell. I'm currently trying to learn Rust and game development.I obtained eleven certifications from CompTIA, Microsoft, and Linux Professionals Institute in hopes of transitioning into IT. I didn't make the jump because entry-level jobs didn't pay well enough for me to afford the switch. Things have changed, money isn't the hurdle it had been.In short, my lack of professional experience is not indicative of my knowledge or my passion for the field. What I don't know now, I can learn quickly.
