Hill-Rom is a leading provider of medical technologies to the health care industry.As Finance & Operations Director for France/Germany/Benelux (Jan 2008-Dec 2009), I was responsible with local sales & services directors for annual revenue $142 million, expenses $21 million, operating income $38 million. Managed 52 staff (8 direct reports) in 3 countries. Integrated the German operations of a Swedish acquisition. As International Operations Director (Apr 2006-Dec 2007), I was responsible for customer service, order management, delivery logistics outside the US. Annual expense budget $6 million. Managed 105 staff (6 direct reports) in 10 countries.

Short term assignments covering operations, finance & liquidity/risk management. Assignments include:- benchmarked market-based allocation of annual expenses €35 million for a publicly-listed media group- planned funding & risk management requirements for a Dutch bank to set up a US mortgage securitisation business model in Europe- professionalised treasury functions for a Dutch bank, including merging 3 separate back offices, converting to a common IT system, setting up centralised funding to support 10 new bank branches, €3 billion commercial loan portfolio, €11 billion mortgage portfolio.

Specialty coffee pioneer in the Netherlands, I set up and operated one of the first "Seattle-style" coffee houses (specialty F&B/retail store). Intention was a small chain but I was 10 years too early. Relocated after first year to larger premises (150 seats / 450m2 / 6 staff) before eventually selling the business.

Directly responsible for $2 billion balance sheet, operating profits $24 million (+104%), operating expenses $5 million. Managed 20 traders & sales professionals (5 direct reports). Arranged US$ 200 million external funding, introduced two ‘benchmark’ debt instruments, including the first local currency bond issued by a foreign party (awarded "Asiamoney Deal of the Year"). Improved HSBC's market ranking to Top 5 (was 10+).

Integrated front & back office operations of HSBC Treasury, Wardley Capital Markets and CM&M Futures in Hong Kong. Delivered Southeast Asia’s largest dealing room (250 workstations), on-time (8 months) and within budget (US$ 7 million).

Consolidated/reorganised back-office support to 60 traders & sales professionals. Annual operating expenses US$3 million. Managed 55 staff (5 direct reports).
