My interest in science and nature, combined with a concern for the environment led me to a Bachelor’s in Environmental Biology at Appalachian State University and various roles in the wastewater plants division of the City of High Point, NC. In High Point, I have enjoyed successes as both the Residuals Management Superintendent and the Wastewater Superintendent of Eastside WWTP. My greatest success during this time was leading the Residuals Management team through a $24 million USD upgrade project to the City’s sludge incinerator and centrifuge facilities. I led the team through the end of construction and startup of the process. Over the next four years, I used a data driven approach towards process optimization to ensure environmental compliance, and sound fiscal decision making to manage the division’s $1.3 million operating budget. I was able to add to the division two positions, one supervisor and one in maintenance.In both Superintendent roles, I have led our teams in a complex regulatory environment that includes water quality, air quality, and OSHA regulations. The Eastside WWTP site maintains a 26 MGD NPDES discharge permit as well as a Title V air quality permit. I have overseen both division’s safety programs and have successfully led our team through an OSHA audit as well as multiple state air and water quality inspections.My core competencies are focused around strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with constant application of the scientific method to solve regulatory and operational problems. I am driven by my love for the environment and am dedicated to improving processes that ensure efficiency and regulatory compliance.
