This virtually eliminated retests and gave technicians a deeper understanding of material properties. • Discovered and resolved a serious safety issue where a floor crane was being used in excess of the safe working load (SWL) limit. Justified purchasing a walkie-stacker to replace the floor crane. The walkie-stacker also eliminated potential manual handling injuries associated with unloading deliveries.• Implemented a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) for all laboratory assets. This system created searchable records for equipment, and included a system for assigning work orders and tracking maintenance activities.• Substituted known hazardous chemical with less hazardous chemical, which additionally resulted in a 33% cost saving.• Implemented monthly checklist to ensure constant availability of consumable stock. Previous reports were manually prepared by a technician. Automatically compiled reports eliminated transcription errors, ensured format consistency and reduced preparation time by approximately 50%.• Developed a site wide basic induction program. This program provided consistent information to new employees and enabled the company to meet its legislative requirements. This program decreased the time for new employees to settle into the workplace, introduced Moldflow’s safety culture and explained the safety procedures at the facility.• Implemented a database for raising building maintenance requests. This database allowed logging of requests, allocation of tasks to the appropriate person and recording of actions taken to resolve issues.• Contributed to Occupational Health and Safety activities and improvements.
