My main research interests are in computational fluid dynamics, machine learning, and fundamental fluid mechanics. My work during this time included working with a finite difference solver written in Fortran. The solver originally had a basic turbulence model with the thin shear layer approximation. I was tasked with expanding the solver to account for viscous effects in all three spacial dimensions as well as adding a more robust turbulence model.

This position was funded by NASA where I worked under a professor in the materials science and engineering department to study the mechanical properties of an asteroidal regolith simulant to better our understanding of processing asteroids for mining purposes in space. Main research areas of interest included understanding how microwave and conventional sintering affected the material's properties as well as developing mathematical relationships to relate the porosity, modulus of elasticity, and flexure strength of ceramic materials.
