The National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT) is the largest educational trust in South Africa. It brings together the resources of government, civil society and private sector business to address the challenges in the national education system.As a member of the senior management team, I have been responsible for the strategic design, implementation and management of national-scale education projects focusing on areas such as: early grade reading, maths, science, curriculum design, development and implementation, teacher professionalisation; school and district leadership, parent and community involvement and learner welfare. My project management activities have included strategic planning, business development, implementation planning and execution, budgeting, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, advocacy, marketing and human resource management.

The Global Campaign for Education (GCE) is a civil society movement that works to end the global education crisis. The mission of the GCE is to ensure that states act to deliver the right of everyone to a free, quality public education.In my role as Global Coordinator (the GCE's equivalent of CEO), I was responsible for the management of the global secretariat and programmes across 80 developing countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

Gauteng is South Africa's smallest, but most populous province. The province implemented a literacy and numeracy improvement programme to upskill teachers and subject advisers. I was responsible for the leadership of the programme for which the overall aim was the improvement in the quality of teaching and learning in literacy and numeracy classrooms across 1000 schools.

St Helena is British overseas territory in the South Atlantic. I was appointed firstly as the adviser to and then as the manager of the Adult and Vocational Education Service. This was at a time that the island was preparing for air access. In establishing and managing the service, I worked with government departments, private sector businesses and the formal schooling sector to make sure that relevant and appropriate training and skills programmes were available to local people. This involved working with education providers in the UK and in South Africa.
