I started working at Newport News Shipbuilding December of 2011. I came in as a deck electrician working on Virginia class submarines. After several year of working in the ballast tanks I was transferred to working in the rubber shop of Newport News Shipbuilding. I worked in there for 6 years manufacturing rubber components for submarines and aircraft carriers until I applied for a position as a electrical Nuclear Quality Inspector within the company. I spent a year and a half inspecting electrical components within the reactor compartment on board the U.S.S. George Washington. When the foreman I worked for in the rubber shop retired I applied for his position and have been working in the roll of foreman for 2 years. Through hard work and dedication I have promoted myself within this company. I am proud of this achievement and will continue to promote myself through hard work.
