As a New Model Launch Engineer I work on a team that is responsible for the overall program management and delivery of new model year vehicle lines from prototyping through mass production. In my three years at Ford I have successfully launched five global vehicle lines across four model years at three different final assembly plants, the latest being Ford's new flagship luxury vehicle - the 2017 Lincoln Continental.New model launch is a dynamic and diverse job in a highly challenging and fast paced manufacturing environment. It provides me the unique experience of working directly with Product Development, Manufacturing Quality, Risk Assessment and Mitigation, Supply Chain Management, and Product Planning.In any manufacturing environment teamwork is crucial and I pride myself in my ability to lead cross-functional professional teams through issue identification, root cause analysis, containment, and prevent reoccurence. Large scale projects are successful when multidisciplinary teams follow the established processes and workflow to work toward a common goal. Issues and mistakes should be resolved through teamwork and focusing on lessons learned.My daily responsibilities involve:- Presenting the overall launch health to upper management.- Overseeing the launch issue management system.- Driving the production part approval process for all new-tooled parts on the vehicle line. - Working directly with suppliers and engineering activities to ensure that all parts arrive on the Material Required Date to support pre-production build events- Ensuring that the assembly plant gets maximum new content and complexity proveout during preproduction.-Actively engaging in design change control to ensure all proposed changes meet program budget and timing without introducing undue risk or sacrificing quality- Driving standardization in process and workflow to ensure successful launches on a global scale.
