Govan Mbeki Municipality Turn Around Project (GMM TAP)Perform a condition assessment of the municipal infrastructure of the Govan Mbeki Municipality.Recommend a maintenance plan and maintenance strategy for the municipality.The work covered the towns of KinrossLeandraEvanderSecundaTrichardtBethal.The scope covered the electrical infrastructure, the waste water treatment works of each town, the state of the roads, the water supply infrastructure, the refuse disposal infrastructure.Investigate the state of the electricity metering system.8000 photographs of the substations, mini substations, and street distribution boxes and electricity meters were taken.Equipment lists were made for each wastewater treatment works eg. MCC’s , pumps aerators, valves, chlorine dosing equipment, dissolved oxygen analysers.The possibility exists to save the Photos into ArcGIS the municipality Geographic Information System at the co ordinates where the photo was taken.A report was issued for each town addressing the condition of the infrastructure, recommending maintenance plans and strategies and providing a budget.

Lead a group of 30 engineers and technicians in the execution of instumentation, PLC,DCS, analyser system projects.A Tubular Reverse Osmosis Plant instrumentation design was completed.

The author was responsible for establishing uniform maintenance standards in the plant for electrical and instrument equipment. Audits were conducted to measure how these standards were being met in the various areas. The department contributed to the implementation of a computerised maintenance management information system.

The author was responsible for managing the activities of a mechanical maintenance division. The staff complement consisted of 3 area engineers, 10 foremen, 5 planners, 50 artisans and 80 general workers.
