Responsible for the delivery and oversight of Babcock's three business streams in Oman (Duqm Naval Dockyard in conjunction with our partners the Oman Drydock Company, Airwork Technical Services and the National Training Institute) and for leading and managing Babcock Oman’s growth and change agenda.

Responsible for the day to day running of the Marine Training Line of Business overseeing the delivery of multiple training related programmes, directing all elements from conception through to delivery and completion. Responsible for all aspects of 250+ staff employment, development and performance assessment and accountable for the time, cost and quality of the programmes’ delivery performance.

Responsible for driving innovation across existing contracts and mobilising new delivery opportunities.

Responsible for providing all leadership and management activities required to achieve the successful delivery of the multi-million pound UAE NTC Contract. This includes managing the performance of all operational, commercial and financial support staff, as well as sub-contractors employed in facilitating contract delivery.

International Consultancy: Acting in an advisory role to the Commanding Officer of the UAE Naval Forces Institute, Abu Dhabi as the UAE Navy seeks to improve Operational Capability through the implementation of a Systematic Approach to Training (ADDIE) within its training organisations and as they strive for organisational and course international recognition and accreditation.

Training Delivery: I was responsible for the delivery of New Entry training to all Royal Navy recruits (2500 per annum) and was the Dean of the Ratings Initial Naval Training School during an OFSTED inspection in which the highest grades available (Outstanding) were awarded.Change Management: I devised and implemented a strategic training transformation programme to rationalize and combine Officer and Ratings Initial Naval Training for over 3000 personnel per year which led to common training programme being delivered across two major training establishments. People Management: Managed a team of 70 people through the transformation of Royal Navy Initial Naval Training delivering staff training and innovation to manage resistance to change.Education Management: Responsible for the provision of the Royal Naval Education and Training Service for all eligible Service personnel. This included acting as the Head of 3 federated Base Learning Centres and exercising functional authority over 17 shored based learning centres throughout the naval service delivering education to a workforce in excess of 30,000 in both shore and sea based units.

Transformational Change: Researched and published a Training Transformation strategy proposing the modernization of all Defence Medical Training to increase training efficiency and effectiveness through embracing: modern learning technologies, student centred learning and blended approaches to training. Training Management: Drafted and implemented a Learning and Teaching Strategy to define how Defence Medical Training and Education services would be delivered in a new-build training establishment. This strategy was then used to define the design and structure of the new build facilities which are now in the process of being built.Change Management: Centralised and rationalised five discrete teams of Training Support throughout the UK into one co-ordinated organisation responsible for setting the requirements for, and evaluating the effectiveness of, Defence Medical Education and Training.Personnel and Training Management: Managed a staff of 65 training support personnel and directed all aspects of training management, programming, design, assessment, quality assurance and accreditation for all Defence Medical Training courses.

Programme Management: Lead a team that developed and implemented a Career Management Information System for a workforce of 35,000 people including setting system requirements, overseeing implementation and evaluating effectiveness following rollout.

Human Resource Management: Acted as the Career Manager for 150 Training and Information Systems specialists in the Royal Navy with responsibility for their career development (Talent Management), employment placement, mentoring and personal development. This included ensuring personal aspirations matched with Service requirements and included sitting on commissioning, promotion and commission transfer selection panels.As the Branch Manager for the Royal Navy’s Training Management specialisation I was responsible for developing an employment model to sustain a branch structure which met the requirements of the Service and maintained a sustainable career path for the Branch members. Developed and implemented a programme of Continuing Professional Development for the Training Management specialisation which led to a work based Master of Science programme in Training Management and Consultancy being developed and delivered.
