Ich bin in den Niederlanden geboren und aufgewachsen und habe an der Fachhochschule Seefahrt in Vlissingen einen Bachelor-Abschluss in Nautik gemacht. Meine Karriere im Bereich Umwelt, Gesundheit und Sicherheit (EH&S) begann, als ich 1985 als Deckoffizier und Sicherheitsbeauftragter auf Chemikalientankern um die Welt reiste. Ab 1989 wechselte ich an Land und setzte meine Karriere fort, hauptsächlich in der EH&S-Beratung. Im Jahr 1993 zog ich in die Schweiz und setzte meine Arbeit im Bereich EH&S und SHEQ in verschiedenen Funktionen fort. Von 2010 bis 2015 war ich bei SBB Cargo im Bereich Schienengüterverkehr als Leiter Arbeits- und Gesundheitsschutz tätig, wo ich mich auch mit den menschlichen Aspekten von EH&S und Eisenbahnsicherheitsvorfällen befasste. Das Fachwissen für diese Bereiche erwarb ich im Rahmen meines Studiums der Sicherheitskultur und Human Factors (DAS) am Institut für Arbeitspsychologie in Olten (FHNW). Seit November 2015 bin ich als Multi Site Leader EH&S für DePuy Synthes tätig und leite funktionsübergreifende Teams an elf Produktionsstandorten innerhalb eines regulatorischen Rahmens für Medizinprodukte. Nach der erfolgreichen Übergabe der Produktionsstandorte und EH&S-Teams an Jabil im Jahr 2020 konzentriere ich mich derzeit auf vier Standorte in der Schweiz und in Deutschland. Meine Leidenschaft ist nach wie vor der Faktor Mensch in der Organisation und die damit verbundenen Vorurteile. Die menschlichen Faktoren "wissen warum" erlauben einen völlig neuen Ansatz für die Ursachenanalyse. Zu verstehen, wie das mentale Modell des Mitarbeiters sein Situationsbewusstsein in den Minuten vor dem Vorfall definiert, bringt neue Ideen zur Vermeidung von Ereignissen.Lieblingszitat: "Die Aussicht an etwas Schuld zu sein wird den Mitarbeiter nicht daran hindern, Fehler zu machen.
