The Western Arctic Marine Training Consortium (WAMTC), is an NWT registered not-for-profit corporation established to deliver Transport Canada recognized marine related training in the north. WAMTC offers northern residents the opportunity to advance their qualifications to enable their pursuit of marine professional careers

Responsible for the GNWT Marine Transportation Services and Fuel Services Divisions.

Responsible for the Divisions of: Energy; Fuel Services; Marine Transportation Services; Air, Marine & Safety, Procurement Shared Services, Compliance and Licensing, Corporate Information Management, and the Technology Service Centre (IT Operations). Responsible for the development of the GNWT 2030 Energy Strategy, released in 2018. Instrumental in the establishment of the first GNWT-owned and managed commercial marine (tug and barge) shipping operation to serve the citizens of the NWT.

Provides strategic direction and leadership in the development of energy policy, planning and programming related to the identification and execution of conventional and renewable energy projects and initiatives aimed at increasing the use of domestic energy resources and renewable energy and reducing energy costs in the NWT, and, for the provision of fuels for power generation, motive and heating use in non-market communities throughout the NWT.Portfolio: - Energy Policy, Planning and Communications Division- Energy Solutions Division- Fuel Services Division

Responsible for managing supply chains that serve petroleum retail operations in 16 communities in the Northwest Territories of Canada. The government provides these services in communities where no private sector fuel retailers are established. Directs procurement and delivery of fuel to NTPC generating plants in 21 communities across the NWT, and inspection and maintenance of fuel facilties. Also responsible for facility maintenance and property management of government-owned infrastructure in the southwestern NWT.

Responsible for the delivery of the Petroleum Products Division’s (PPD) Fuel Inventory Management, Fuel Quality Assurance, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and Regulatory Compliance programs for 36 bulk fuel distribution and storage facilities owned or operated by the Government of the Northwest Territories, located in twenty-two communities across the NWT . Coordinated a range of services, including Community Fuel Sales, Dispensing and Delivery Services Contracts, the Territorial-wide fuel resupply program; fuel testing and analysis and regulatory compliance programs. Monitored fuel inventories, forecastrd fuel sales and consumption, developed and executed annual fuel resupply programs, delivered training, monitored performance, and provided direction and support to community contract operators.

Shore coordinator and contractor representative for ocean tanker ship to shore oil discharge. Sampling and field testing of fuels at the point of loading and at delivery. Aircraft refuelling and bulk fuel airlift transfer operations. Maintenance, repair, installation and inspection of fuel storage, dispensing and distribution equipment and facilities; product measurement and inventory control. Delivered fuel management training programs, drafted work instructions, supply manuals, engineering reports and design recommendations. Completed numerous safety and practical spill response courses on land, ice and water.
