About John Vanwagoner

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” ― Confucius ══ RESOURCEFUL ══Growing up in rural Utah, I learned great work ethics from my parents. I learned to run our farm and to take care and nourish crops and animals. We also played a lot of music both as individuals and family.Music runs in my blood. My eight siblings and my parents were all musical. I learned to play the guitar by watching my father, mother, and older brother, and I learned drums on my own while listening to music. I began my music career when I was just 10-years-old with my first professional gig at the age of 12. I played the guitar, the drums, and I sang. Since then, I’ve performed music in over 30 states and 9 countries, touring with professional bands and choirs. I’ve also written multiple songs that have been published.Besides music, I have several passions that all work together beautifully in my life, including teaching, woodworking, metal working, composing, and performing. I am a master woodworker and build high-end French Provincial furniture, classic/contemporary furniture, 3D CAD drawings, and design. I’ve designed and/or built over 1,000 different furniture pieces, including a jazz band stage with storage units for instruments and audio equipment storage systems.I’ve taught music education on and off for the past 24 years. I taught band, jazz band, music history, AP music theory, choir, composition, guitar, drums and percussion, history of Rock and Roll, marching band, wind ensemble, liturgical music director, video production, and stage tech. I was also responsible for the production of music videos and audio recordings for several school projects. I’m innovative in my creations. From my music to my woodworking, I can incorporate different aspects of the contemporary and the traditional to create harmonious and beautiful pieces of art, whether musical or physical. I like to be challenged and come up with creative solutions to solve problems.Aside from my work, I also enjoy life outdoors. I like kayaking, fishing, hiking, and fossil hunting. I’m a Make-a-Wish Foundation contributor, animal shelter volunteer, and President of Head Start.✉ jvanwagmusic@gmail.com ☎ (801) 815-8080Music | Vocalist | Master Woodworker | Teacher | Guitarist | Recording | Design | Education | Drums | Rock Music | Performance | Musician | Management | Producer | Designer | Director | Video Production | Contractor | Auto CAD | Composer | Choir Director | Vocal Coach | Event Planner | Lighting Specialist | Songwriter | Performer | Instrumentalist

As a Music and Liturgical Director at Skaggs Catholic Center, I created both long-term and short-term vision, direction, strategies, and guidelines for planning, preparing, and executing productive catholic masses to include participation by all.══ IMAGINATIVE ══Most people may be surprised at everything that entails running a church’s music program. Getting the church attendees’ participation if the music is not engaging can take an act of God (pun intended). That’s why it is so important to have a production that moves people and provides a connection to them. That’s where I came in.I provided direction and framework of core values as related to production elements. I was in charge of developing PPT presentations and rehearsing instrumentalists and vocalists for the weekly productions. During the monthly events, I hired the musicians and the sound and lighting specialists. I managed the video production and acted as recording engineer and music director for the quarterly video productions. If the ballroom and concert halls needed setting up, I coordinated with the facility managers to get this done. I worked in conjunction with designers to prepare for events and developed strong client relationships to ensure these events ran smoothly and timely. Additionally, I was responsible for billing and account management for hired crews, musicians, and suppliers. Moreover, I taught AP Music Theory, History of Rock and Roll, Choir Jazz band, and Praise band.══ SPECIALTIES ══ Music | Vocalist | Master Woodworker | Teacher | Guitarist | Recording | Design | Education | Drums | Rock Music | Performance | Musician | Management | Producer | Designer | Director | Music and Video Production | Builder | Contractor | Auto CAD | Composer | Choir Director | Vocal Coach | Event Planner | Lighting Specialist | Songwriter | Performer | Instrumentalist | Sales Management | Marketing Strategy | Music Publishing | Customer Service | Film Scoring

During the time I spent as a teacher at Oakdale Elementary, I handled the music program’s administrative requirements and directed and produced all events (talent show, Christmas Program, etc.). Much of my job involved working with special education students. I delivered music education and lessons. We had several events throughout the year, so I helped prepare the students for performance opportunities. I also assessed the students’ skills and completed Music Aptitude Assessments for my pupils. As a teacher, I had a clear vision for the class. I communicated this vision clearly to the students and the faculty. From there, I created an age-appropriate curriculum and lesson plans, and I updated these as the program progressed.══ SPECIALTIES ══ Music | Vocalist | Master Woodworker | Teacher | Guitarist | Recording | Design | Education | Drums | Rock Music | Performance | Musician | Management | Producer | Designer | Director | Music and Video Production | Builder | Contractor | Auto CAD | Composer | Choir Director | Vocal Coach | Event Planner | Lighting Specialist | Songwriter | Performer | Instrumentalist | Sales Management | Marketing Strategy | Music Publishing | Customer Service | Film Scoring
