The Utrecht Centre for Affordable Biotherapeutics (“UCAB”) is a collaboration between Utrecht University and the World Health Organization. UCAB is a non-profit foundation that facilitates the development and sustainable production of high quality and affordable biotherapeutics for patients in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs)The mission of UCAB is to improve global health by enabling the sustainable production of high quality and affordable biotherapeutics that are accessible to patients in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs). UCAB focusses on the development of biotherapeutics with the greatest impact on public health in LMICs, which are preferably included in the Essential Medicines List (EML) or the Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) portfolio of the World Health Organization. UCAB's strategy is to initiate the formation of business associations between biotherapeutic manufacturers. The business associations share the development technology for the development of the biotherapeutic and build a shared file for marketing authorization in their individual territories.

Osteo-Pharma BV develops novel medication and medical devices for orthopedic and dental applications for the local treatment of bone fractures and bone defects. Osteo-Pharma’s technology platform is based on applying local sustained delivery of low molecular weight compounds that enhance bone formation while simultaneously inhibiting bone resorption. Osteo-Pharma was founded in June 2014 and applies novel technology to deliver pharmaceuticals locally near to a bone fracture or bone defect. By encapsulating pharmaceuticals in a biodegradable carrier sustained release of pharmaceuticals over a 6-8 week period is achieved. During this period bone growth is enhanced and bone resorption is inhibited resulting in a net effect of bone growth. This technology is now in development to improve the healing of bone fractures, bone defects and for the treatment of osteoarthritis. In addition, Osteo-Pharma is developing a novel coating for dental and orthopedic implants to improve osseo-integration and to prevent implant loosening.

OcellO is a contract research organization specialized in high content screening of human 3D cultures for the drug discovery industry, specialized in oncology. OcellO combines automated 3D culture and 3D image analysis in a high throughput platform.OcellO's offers over 150 different models for oncology using primary human cells, human xerographs, organoids and cell lines as source material. These models better simulate in vivo compared to 2D cultures. OcellO optimizes these models and measures disease-relevant end-points.
