Under the direction of the CRA Board of Directors, lead the association in advancing corn refining industry interests in policy advocacy, legal proceedings, industry relations and advancing the state of scientific knowledge regarding nutrition and environmental matters.

Chaired Policy Practice Group and active member of firm's Management Committee, Food Practice Group and USDA Practice Group. Advisor and advocate to food and agriculture companies and trade associations in policy and regulatory matters. Lead counsel in major food recalls, defense in congressional investigations, legislative and regulatory lobbying campaigns and regulatory compliance matters. Registered as a federal lobbyist for McDonald's, Kraft Foods, Schwan Food Company, Fruit and Vegetable Processors and Growers Coalition, American Council of Independent Laboratories, Food Products Association, Cheese Importers Association of America, National Confectioners Association and National Meat Association.

Presidential appointee responsible for federal nutrition policy, federal food assistance programs and related activities, including over half of the USDA budget. Including time as Deputy Assistant Secretary, testified before Congress over 70 times and supervised over 90 proposed and final rules. Also, served as a presidential appointee on the Board of the Commodity Credit Corporation and the Rural Telephone Bank Board. Served on Cabinet Council working group on welfare reform and as an Administration witness to Congress regarding welfare reform.
