John Waraniak has been in the aerospace, automotive, racing and performance industries for over 30 years with wide-ranging systems engineering experience, innovative technology insights and frontline lessons for competing and winning in today’s Automotive transformation. John was elected an SAE International Fellow in 2020 for his significant technical achievements and mobility industry contributions in both automotive and aerospace. His work at the intersection of strategy, technology and performance was recently acknowledged as the 2023 recipient of the SAE International Award for Influential Executive in Automotive honoring Henry Ford II. John is CEO and founder of Have Blue, a proof of concept and technology demonstration company helping organizations go faster and further through sustainable growth and innovation. He is currently Executive Advisor at Fox Factory and Automotive Executive Advisor at Troy Lee Designs. He served as Vice President of Vehicle Technology for the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) from May 2006 to January 2021. As SEMA’s Chief Engineer for 15 years, John was responsible for helping hundreds of performance aftermarket companies integrate their products with the latest systems, advanced vehicle technologies and capitalize on new business and product-development opportunities. John has held executive positions at General Motors, Hughes Aircraft and Northrop. He is co-chairman and founding member of the SAE-CES Connect2Car Leadership Committee, WCX Technical Advisory Group, SAE Fellows Selection Committee, Board Advisor for the Indy Autonomous Challenge, and founding member of External Advisory Board at CU-ICAR, Clemson University. While at General Motors and Hughes Aircraft, John led the corporate-wide transfer of technology and best practices from Hughes’ aerospace operations to GM’s automotive operations to deliver product and process results for improved safety, performance, electronics and winning motorsports programs. John was recruited as an original Member of Senior Ice, Tacit Blue and Have Blue Unacknowledged Special Access Programs with a Top Secret NSA Clearance to support the structural integrity design and development of the USAF Northrop B-2 Advanced Technology Stealth Bomber from 1980-1986.Born and raised in the Motor City of Detroit, John is an avid motorsports enthusiast.
