Successfully implemented the merging of three separate companies to form Australian Wool Handlers. I was charted with the responsibility to manage the merger of three businesses under one umbrella. Two of these businesses had been fierce competitors for the previous 100 years. The process required: integrating competing work cultures, re-alignment of many areas including employee roles, locations, customer relations and communication, training and establishing a new business model. This ability to integrate these businesses and hence create a new business model has become the benchmark within our National Business. To illustrate the success of the mergers we increased market share of containerisation business by 24% over 2 years.The organisation owned all forklifts across Australia. I identified that the overall costs for managing the fleet was excessive and as such I formulated a plan to review our forklift program which included the option to lease units. The result of this review led to the company changing its strategy in regards to the management of this equipment, with a phasing out of owned units being replaced by new leased units. The results provided significant costs saving in maintenance and fuel savings along with the ability to effectively measure the on-going costs associated to this product. Negotiations with major suppliers resulted in improved products, relationship with service providers and response times for the business – with the net result being improved customer service.

As State Manager I was responsile for the overall business in W.A. During this time we acheived above budget results for 3 years running, against a back drop of decreasing volumes. This was achieved by reviewing all of our activities and then eliminating waste. My management style was based on building trust amongst the team which enabled people to be engaged with the process and feel part of the change..

Negotiated, marketed and implemented service contract's genertaing iIncome of $3.7 million annually.Re-negotiated national service contract with 132 sub-contractors for Email Service providing increased levels of service with no increase to base percentage rate paid. This was the first national contract ever negotiated.Implemented standard procedures, new services and KPI measures to all 15 Regional Centres across Australia. This resulted in improved customer service, through improved call centre response times and understanding of customer needs.
