CurrentINTERNAL RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENTEffective July 1, 2018, J.J. (John) Wardrop, Procurement Associate, Procurement Services, Imperial Oil, has elected to retire after more than 35 years of service.John began his career in 1982 working logistic support for Esso Resources Arctic Operation out of the Nisku office. He moved to Procurement in 1988 and worked in various conventional operations throughout Western Canada until 1998 when he was seconded to Sable Offshore Energy in Nova Scotia as the Procurement Lead. John returned to Calgary in 2000 and held numerous commodity portfolios before taking on the responsibility of Contracts Manager - Corporate Services / Supply-Chain & Chemicals for both Imperial Oil’s upstream and downstream operations. In 2010, he then took on a Claims Coordinator role in the Western Canada Major Capital Projects team providing strategic claims approaches to the suite of WCMP contracts and eventually moving into the Contracts Administration Team Lead role. John’s expertise in understanding contracts led him to ExxonMobil's Development Company in the capacity of Claim’s Advisor working on construction related claims in support of many global projects including Erha 2 (France-Nigeria), Hebron (South Korea-Canada), Longford (Australia) and Helium 3 (Qatar). He returned back to Procurement in 2017 where he has been providing contract advisory support and mentorship to the Procurement mining team.John’s unique ability to quickly understand contracts and how to leverage them to the company's benefit will certainly be missed. He has always been willing to share his knowledge, mentor others, and above all, have some fun in his day to day interactions.Please join me in thanking John for his many contributions and dedicated service to the company throughout his career.
