Based in Sydney and with a career now in its 34th year I have a diverse client and project portfolio covering the spectrum of transport projects from the strategic to the highly focussed. My passion is creating a great but safe experience for people whether it be within a metro station or leaving a sporting event. I will challenge ‘typical’ assumptions and methods to make sure that new approaches are considered at every stage of the design process whilst retaining a critical eye when it comes to fantastic looking model animations which look great but lack substance.I have extensive event planning experience and was the pedestrian planning manager for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Since that incredible time I have been involved in the planning and review of numerous other major sporting events such as the London 2012 Olympic Games, the 2018 Brisbane Commonwealth Games and the design of stadia around the globe.Everyone is a pedestrian at some stage of their journey and my experience allows me to provide advice early in the development process across a range of disciplines to produce an end product which serves the needs of the users in a cost effective manner without compromising amenity.Whilst I am focussed on designing for people at the micro level for Sydney Metro I also have extensive experience in the technical direction of multimodal freight terminal and precinct concept design projects, multi modal corridor assessment studies, modelling, accessibility studies, pedestrian planning, master planning, sustainable transport and development planning. I have successfully led teams of multi-disciplinary professionals and am a firm believer that recruiting well and putting people first is the key to team success.I am a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Traffic Planning and Management.
