•Developed a working knowledge of a variety of fixed income products and options trading. •Programmed a bond pricer using Python and a bond option pricer using VBA specifically focusing on analysing the risk parameters in fixed income derivatives and the complex option strategies surrounding them. •Learnt hedging strategies using the underlying assets.•Shadowed market makers to experience live trading.

•International University Competition to create a molecular biosensors of creatinine for healthcare applications by combining both molecular technologies and device technologies. •Successfully managed a team of 12 interdisciplinary students from the faculties of biochemistry, bioengineering, chemistry, maths, and physics. As the only team made up of undergraduate students we successfully developed a creatinine biosensor. Alongside the sensor we developed a mobile application which connected via bluetooth for the patients ease of use, we also developed a website so that members of the public could follow the teams progress.•The project culminated in a weekend which consisted of a day of testing 21 samples of blood plasma spiked with creatinine during which specialists in biosensing questioned the viability of the product and its ability to go to market, and a presentation to over 400 members of the public.•http://www.imperialcollege.sensus.org/

• Shadowed chemists in the labs of the Bioinorganic Chemistry & Drug Development, Chemistry & Toxicology of Bioactive Molecules and Environmental Biogeochemistry groups. • Received basic training and gained awareness of the techniques and characterisation procedures usually carried out in the labs of CQE, including UV-visible and circular dichromism spectrophotometry, X-ray diffraction, mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance, inductively coupled plasma and gas and liquid chromatography. • My main contact during the internship was Professor João Pessoa, who works mainly with transition metals and is a recent recipient of Vanadis Award recently, it was an insightful and invaluable experience into inorganic coordination chemistry.• Gained an understanding of the teamwork involved in the running of a busy research lab.
