Chairman of both the Steering Committee and Board of Directors for the Helix Well Containment Group (HWCG LLC). HWCG, LLC, originally consisting of 24 deepwater oil companies and 37 deepwater service companies, was developed in late 2010 after the BP Macondo deepwater blowout and developed a long term deepwater blowout response option for mid-size and independent oil and gas development companies in the Gulf of Mexico. HWCG LLC members were granted the first deepwater drilling contracts, post-Macondo, and were key in restarting deepwater drilling operations in the Gulf after the US government halted deepwater operations in the wake of the Macondo incident.

Oil Spill Response Ltd (OSRL) is the globes largest Tier 3 oil spill response and deepwater blowout response cooperative. Established in the 1980's OSRL has offshore spill response bases in the UK, Singapore, Norway, Fort Lauderdale FL, and Bahrain, and supports multiple Tier 2 bases around the globe. After the BP Macondo incident, OSRL formed a new division and established deepwater blowout response bases in Norway, Singapore, Brazil, and South Africa.

Chaired the conference Advisory Committee that included industry and agency personnel from the oil and gas industry and the US and several state governments and the American Petroleum Institute. The purpose of the committee was to develop the theme and content for the International Oil Spill Conference, supervise it’s development and carry through with the conference program. The IOSC is the largest response conference, globally, and includes several thousand government and industry attendees from 6 continents and over 60 countries.
