To accomplish this I draw on my technical skills and abilities and my experience preparing detailed drawings, specifications,etc.This involves managing and coordinating work with an interdisciplinary team. This involves Quality Assurance reviews of projects completed by private sector architectural firms. I describe project requirements such as the Scope of Work. I have worked as a resource professional, client representative and/or project manager to deliver Office Accommodation Services and a wide range of professional - technical - services for Parks Canada. Other clients include PWGSC Office Accommodation Services, Correctional Service of Canada, Canada Border Services, Health Canada, INAC, Agriculture Canada, Transport, and other federal government departments. My role includes work to maximize value for investment; assess risks / opportunities; define client and in-house needs; provide timely technical / professional advice and team direction regarding the implementation of capital projects and the ongoing operation and maintenance of facilities. as the AR05 Head – Contemporary Architecture Section with the Winnipeg based Western Region Parks Canada Dedicated Unit. This position involved supervisory responsibilities until the federal government downsized the Parks Canada Architectural and engineering Unit. Following national reductions in the Parks Canada - PWGSC SAA, I have worked as a resource architect AR05 with the main PWGSC Unit in Winnipeg from 1996 to the present time. I have provided both project management and professional architectural services for a variety of projects based in national parks including staff housing, operations and works facilities, visitor reception facilities, Park Interperative centres, and office facilities.

Conservation Architect, Period Architecture Section, PWGSC Parks Canada Dedicated UnitHeritage Architecture requires a deep technical understanding of how water, heat, mechanical impacts (from wind or people) and other forces accellarate the deterioration of building components. This understanding is important in the construction of new buildings in order for new construction to be durable. Heritage Architecture is deeply rooted in a set of respectful values relating to the context and the meaning of individual buildings, particulaty the conservation, maintenance and restoration of Federal Historic Buildings. This involved an appreciation of team dynamics, Cultural Resource Management principles and the multidisciplinary craft of historic building restoration. This work included participation in team efforts, concept development, design and contract preparation, preliminary reports, cost estimates to construction working drawings. I can evaluate and assess existing buildings and their components. I have extensive experience with providing professional expertise and advice in the maintenance, repair and restoration of historic structures;I participated in the draft review process preparing the National Standards for Historic Places. I prepared design and construction drawings as well as specifications for the repair, restoration and preservation of historic structures;I am interested in and have researched the risk of fire damaging historic buildings as well as into the various methods of reducing the risk of fire and supressing fires in buildings should they occur. I have presented four sessions on ‘Fire Protection of Historic Buildings and Sites” in Ontario and the four Western Provinces. The seminar was presented to volunteer managers of historic sites as well as federal government employees. In a volunteer capacity, this technical seminar was of interest to a wide variety of audiences.
